🚀 Getting Started

Do I need an account to use GasCap™?

No — the fuel calculators work right away without signing up. Creating a free account lets you save 1 vehicle and sync your data across devices. Upgrading to Pro ($2.99/mo) unlocks fill-up tracking, MPG insights, receipt scanning, and unlimited saved vehicles. New users get 30 days of Pro free — no credit card required. After the trial, your account automatically reverts to the free plan.

How do I create an account?

Visit gascap.app and tap "Sign Up." You can sign up with Google (one tap) or with email. For email sign-up, enter your full name, email address, and a password (8+ characters). A phone number is optional — if you enter one, an SMS opt-in checkbox appears. You'll receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account. All new accounts automatically start with 30 days of Pro free, no credit card required.

I just signed up — what should I do first?

After signing up, GasCap™ shows a setup checklist on the main screen. It walks you through adding your first vehicle, logging your first fill-up, and (for Fleet) adding a driver. Each step fires automatically when completed. You can dismiss the checklist at any time — it won't reappear.

How do I add my vehicle?

Tap "Saved Vehicles" on the main screen, then tap "+ Add Vehicle." Search by Year/Make/Model, enter your VIN manually, or tap the camera icon to scan your VIN. Saving a vehicle pre-fills your tank size and MPG estimates in the calculator automatically.

What is a VIN and where do I find it?

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a 17-character code unique to your car. Find it on the driver-side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver-side door jamb sticker, or your vehicle registration / insurance card.

How do I install GasCap™ on my phone?

GasCap™ is available on the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android) — just search "GasCap" and tap Install. You can also add it directly from your browser: on iPhone, open gascap.app in Safari → tap the Share icon → "Add to Home Screen." On Android, open in Chrome → tap the menu (⋮) → "Add to Home Screen." Either way, the app icon appears on your home screen and works just like a native app.

How do I switch between Light and Dark mode?

Open the app, go to Settings (tap your profile or the settings icon), then find the Appearance section. Tap the three-way toggle to choose Auto (follows your device's system setting and switches at sunrise/sunset), Light, or Dark. Your preference is saved automatically.

⛽ Calculators

What is the "Target Fill" calculator?

Target Fill tells you exactly how much it will cost to reach a specific fuel level — for example, from ¼ tank to full. Drag the gauge to your current level, set your target, and enter the gas price. If you have a saved vehicle, your tank size is pre-filled.

What is the "By Budget" calculator?

By Budget works in reverse: enter how much money you want to spend and it tells you how many gallons you'll get and what fuel level to expect. Great for topping off on a tight budget.

What is the MPG Insight Card?

The MPG Insight Card appears on the main screen for Pro and Fleet users who have logged at least two fill-ups. It shows your real-world average MPG, your trend vs. previous fill-ups, and your best single fill-up efficiency. Tap the card to open the full MPG chart.

What is my GasCap™ driver mode and how do I change it?

When you first log in, GasCap™ asks how you plan to use the app: Personal Driver, Gig Driver (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, etc.), Rental Car, or Business/Fleet. Your selection personalizes the dashboard and tools shown to you. To change your mode, go to Settings → Profile and update your Driver Mode.

How do I export my gig driver logs for taxes?

In the Driver tab, tap "History" and scroll to the Tax Export section at the bottom. Select the tax year (current year and two prior years are available), then tap "Download CSV." The file includes two sections — Fuel Fill-Ups (date, platform, station, gallons, price/gal, total) and Mileage Log (date, platform, category, miles, odometer readings) — plus a Summary showing total fuel spend, total business miles, and your IRS standard mileage deduction estimate at $0.70/mile. The CSV opens cleanly in Excel or Google Sheets. Consult a tax professional for deduction advice.

How do I track fuel and mileage as a gig driver?

Set your Driver Mode to "Gig Driver" in Settings → Profile (or choose it on first login). A "Driver" tab appears in the Tools panel (and in the bottom tab bar on the mobile app). Tap "Log Fill-Up" to record date, gallons, price per gallon, station, and platform (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, etc.). Tap "Log Mileage" to record miles driven — enter start and end odometer readings and GasCap™ auto-calculates the miles, or just enter the total miles directly. Mark trips as Business or Personal for tax tracking. The weekly summary shows total fuel spend, business miles, cost per mile, avg $/gal, fill-up count, and total gallons. An IRS mileage deduction estimate (business miles × $0.70) appears automatically once you have business miles logged for the year. Switching to a different Driver Mode hides the Driver tab immediately.

What is Rental Car Return Mode?

Rental Car Return Mode is designed for rental vehicle drop-offs. Tap the "🚗 Rental Car Return Mode" toggle at the top of the calculator to activate it — or set your Driver Mode to "Rental Car" in Settings and it activates automatically every time you open the app. Visiting gascap.app/rental and tapping the CTA also launches the calculator in rental mode directly. Your saved garage is hidden and replaced with rental car class presets (Economy, Midsize, SUV, etc.). Enter the rental company's per-gallon rate to see exactly how much you save by fueling up yourself vs. returning empty.

Can I scan my fuel gauge to set the current level?

Yes. Tap "Scan Gauge" to open the scanner. Center the gauge in the frame, then tap "Use Camera" or "Upload Photo." You'll see a preview before anything is analyzed — tap "Retake" if needed, or "Analyze" to send it to AI. The result shows the detected fuel level, gauge type (analog needle, digital bars, etc.), and a confidence score. If confidence is below 80%, a warning appears and the slider stays active so you can correct it. Tap "Looks Right" to apply the level to the calculator. A "Fuel level set from dashboard scan" badge confirms it was applied. Tips: avoid glare, hold steady, and move closer if the gauge is small in frame.

How does the live gas price lookup work?

Live gas price lookup requires a free GasCap™ account. Once signed in, tap "Use Local Price" and allow location access. GasCap™ fetches the current average price in your state from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). If you deny location access, it falls back to the national average. Prices are averages — actual pump prices may vary. Guests can always enter a price manually.

What is the EV Charge calculator?

The EV Charge calculator (⚡) helps electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid owners calculate the exact cost to charge from their current battery level to a target level. Select your vehicle from 40+ EV and PHEV presets to auto-fill battery capacity, use the sliders to set your current and target charge percentages, then enter your electricity rate. The rate pre-fills with the U.S. national average ($0.16/kWh) so you can calculate immediately — or tap "Look Up My Rate" (free account required) to auto-detect your state's average directly from the U.S. EIA. Results include total kWh needed, estimated charging cost, estimated miles of range added (if you enter your efficiency), and estimated charging times for Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast chargers. Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) are supported with a separate preset group.

Can I use GasCap™ without internet?

Yes. Once installed, the calculators work fully offline using the last-known gas price. Gas price lookup, electricity rate lookup, gauge scan, VIN scan, and AI features require an internet connection.

🛠️ Tools

What is the Trip Cost Estimator?

The Trip Cost Estimator calculates the fuel cost of a road trip. In manual mode (free for all users), enter your trip distance, vehicle MPG, and gas price to see total gallons needed and estimated cost. Pro and Fleet users can also use route mode: enter an origin and destination with address autocomplete and GasCap™ uses Google Routes API to calculate the real route distance — so you get a cost estimate for the actual road, not a straight line. When a fuel stop is needed along the way, GasCap™ finds real gas stations on the route. Your completed trips are saved and appear in the Stats tab.

Does GasCap™ work with Google Maps?

Yes. In the Trip tab, Pro and Fleet users can enter an origin and destination to get the exact fuel cost for the real route. When a fuel stop is needed, GasCap™ finds actual gas stations along the route — tap "Find Fuel Along the Way" to open Google Maps (or Waze) with turn-by-turn directions straight to the pump. After you close Maps and return to GasCap™, the app scrolls you right back to your trip result.

What is the Station Comparison tool?

Station Comparison lets you compare two nearby gas stations side by side. Enter the price per gallon at each station and the amount you need — it tells you which is cheaper and by exactly how much. Free for all users.

What is the Find Gas tab?

The Find Gas tab shows live gas prices at stations near you, powered by Google Places. It lists nearby stations with their current price, distance, and a direct link to Google Maps for directions. Tap any price chip to instantly fill the calculator, or tap "Report Price" on a station card to submit the price you see at the pump — you earn +5 giveaway entries each time. Community-reported prices (submitted in the last 2 hours) appear in amber when Google's price data is missing or outdated. Available to Pro and Fleet users.

Can I remove a station from the Find Gas results?

Yes. If a station is permanently closed or you just want to clean up the list, tap the × button on the station card to hide it from your results. Hidden stations are remembered on your device. If you hide all stations, a "Restore hidden stations" link appears to bring them back.

How do I report a gas price?

In the Find Gas tab, tap "⛽ Report Price" at the bottom of any station card. You'll see a small form — pick the fuel grade (Regular, Midgrade, Premium, or Diesel) and enter the price you see on the pump, then tap Submit. You earn +5 giveaway entries for each report. You must be within 0.5 miles of the station to submit. You can report up to 5 stations per day.

What are community prices?

Community prices are pump prices reported by GasCap users at a station within the last 2 hours. They appear in amber on station cards — either as a "reported" note under a Google price, or as the primary price grid if Google has no price data for that station. Community prices are visible to all Pro and Fleet users nearby.

What is the Gas Price Alert?

Gas Price Alert (Pro and Fleet) lets you set a price threshold — for example, $3.50/gal. When the national average price drops at or below your threshold, a banner appears at the top of the app letting you know it's a good time to fill up. Set your alert in Settings → Gas Price Alert.

What is the AI Fuel Advisor?

The AI Fuel Advisor (Pro and Fleet) is a conversational AI assistant powered by GPT-4o. Ask it anything about fuel efficiency, trip planning, vehicle maintenance, cost estimates, or money-saving tips. It has context about your saved vehicles and recent fill-up history, so its answers are personalized to your actual driving.

📋 Fill-Up Tracking

How do I log a fill-up?

From the Tools tab, tap "Log Fill-Up." Enter the date, gallons, price per gallon, and odometer reading. For the gas station, you have three fast options: tap "📍 Detect" to auto-find the station you're currently at using your location, pick from your recently used stations (shown as quick-select chips), or just start typing. Pro users can also tap the camera icon to scan a receipt and auto-fill the amounts (including the station name). Fleet users can assign the fill-up to a driver. Tip: if you just used a calculator, the gallons, price, and vehicle are carried over into the logger for you.

What receipts can I scan to log a fill-up?

Both pay-at-pump receipts and final store receipts are supported. Lay the receipt flat in good lighting with all numbers visible. The AI reads gallons, price per gallon, and date and pre-fills the form — you review before saving.

What are the smart validation warnings?

When you log a fill-up, GasCap™ checks for common mistakes and warns you if: the gallons seem unusually high or low for your tank size, the date is a duplicate of an existing entry, the odometer is lower than your last recorded reading, or the price per gallon seems implausible. You can override any warning and save anyway.

How is MPG calculated?

MPG is calculated automatically from consecutive fill-ups that both include odometer readings, using the formula: miles driven ÷ gallons pumped. You'll need at least two fill-ups with odometer readings to see MPG data.

What is "cost per mile" and how is it calculated?

Cost per mile tells you what every mile of driving actually costs you in fuel — for example, $0.14/mi. GasCap calculates it the same way it calculates MPG: it looks at the distance between your odometer readings on consecutive fill-ups and divides the fuel cost over that distance by the miles you drove. Like MPG, it needs at least two fill-ups with odometer readings on the same vehicle, and it gets more accurate the more fill-ups you log with an odometer reading. If you don't see a number yet, just add an odometer reading to your next couple of fill-ups.

How do I filter or browse my fill-up history?

Fill-ups are grouped by month. Use the filter bar at the top to narrow by vehicle, date range, or specific month. Fleet users get an additional driver filter. Tap any entry to see its full details or delete it.

Can I see spending totals by year?

Yes. At the top of Fill-Up History, year chips (e.g. 2026 · 2025 · All time) let you filter the list and stats to a specific year. The stats card shows total spent and total gallons for the selected year, with all-time totals shown below for reference. Defaults to the current year when you open the panel.

What is the pump savings card after logging a fill-up?

After saving a fill-up that was pre-filled from the GasCap™ calculator, a savings card appears showing how much you saved at the pump by not overfilling. It calculates the industry-average pump overfill (0.4 gal) multiplied by the price per gallon you paid. The card is a reminder that using GasCap™ to calculate your exact fill amount puts real money back in your pocket.

Can I pay the exact GasCap™ amount at the pump?

Yes — most modern pumps support pre-pay by dollar amount. When you reach the pump, select "Pre-Pay" or "Enter Amount" on the keypad and type in the exact dollar figure GasCap™ calculated (e.g. $42.83). The pump stops precisely at that amount — no rounding, no overfill. Support varies by station and terminal: some pumps only accept whole dollar pre-pays, others accept cents, and pay-inside attendants can always set any amount. If you do round up, use the "Amount paid at pump" field in the Fill-Up Logger to record what you actually spent so your savings stay accurate.

Can I export my fill-up history?

Yes. Open Fill-Up History and tap "Export CSV" to download a spreadsheet, or "Print / PDF" to save a printable report. Fleet CSV exports include the driver attribution column. Available to Pro and Fleet users.

📈 Stats & Insights

What is the Stats tab?

The Stats tab (📈) in the Tools panel is your personal fuel intelligence hub. It includes your Streak Counter, Savings Dashboard, Monthly Report Card, Worst Fill-Up Hall of Fame, Gas Price Trend Predictions, and Vehicle Health Alerts — all powered by your fill-up history.

What is the Savings Dashboard?

The Savings Dashboard shows your total fuel spending, total gallons filled, average price per gallon, and estimated savings vs. the live EIA national average (updated weekly). You'll also see savings milestones — $25, $50, $100, $250, and $500 — with a progress bar to your next achievement. Each fill-up row in your history shows whether you paid above or below the national average that week.

What is the Annual Fuel Cost Projection?

After logging 3 or more fill-ups spanning at least a week, GasCap™ extrapolates your pace to show your projected annual, monthly, and weekly fuel cost. The card appears automatically on your dashboard and updates every time you log a new fill-up.

What is the price intelligence hint when logging a fill-up?

When you enter a price per gallon in the fill-up logger, GasCap™ instantly compares it to the live EIA national average and shows whether you're getting a deal (below avg 🎉) or paying a premium (above avg 📈). This uses the same weekly EIA data that powers the Savings Dashboard.

What is the Monthly Report Card?

The Monthly Report Card compares this month's fill-ups, gallons, spending, and average gas price to last month — with color-coded arrows showing whether each metric improved or worsened.

What is the Worst Fill-Up Hall of Fame?

The Hall of Fame highlights your most expensive single fill-up ("Worst Day 😬") alongside your best deal — the fill-up with the lowest price per gallon ("Best Deal 🎉"). You'll need at least 2 fill-ups logged to see this.

How do gas price trend predictions work?

GasCap™ compares the average price you've paid in your last two fill-ups vs. the two before that. If prices are trending up, down, or flat, you'll see a trend indicator with a sparkline chart. You'll need at least 4 fill-ups logged.

What are Vehicle Health Alerts?

If your recent MPG drops more than 10% below your historical average for a vehicle, you'll see an alert suggesting you check tire pressure, air filter, or other common causes of declining efficiency.

What is Annual Wrapped?

Annual Wrapped (🎁) is a year-in-review summary — total fill-ups, gallons, money spent, average price, best and worst months, top vehicle, and estimated miles driven. Tap the gift icon in the header to view it. You can share your summary to social media or copy it to your clipboard.

How do Fill-Up Reminders work?

Fill-Up Reminders will notify you when you haven't logged a fill-up within your chosen interval. Reminders will be delivered via SMS to your opted-in phone number — this feature is coming soon (pending SMS service activation). GasCap™ does not use push notifications. In the meantime, you can set a recurring reminder manually in your phone's calendar app.

🚛 Fleet

What is GasCap™ Fleet?

Fleet is for businesses and owner-operators managing multiple vehicles. It includes unlimited vehicles, up to 25 drivers, driver attribution on fill-ups, a fleet-wide fuel dashboard, per-vehicle and per-driver reporting, annual tax report (PDF), bulk vehicle import, driver roster management, CSV export with driver column, referral rewards, and daily gas card giveaway entries.

How do I add drivers to my fleet?

From the Fleet Dashboard, tap "Manage Drivers" → "+ Add Driver." Enter the driver's name. When logging a fill-up, assign it to a driver using the driver dropdown. Driver history is preserved even if you later remove them from the roster.

What does the Fleet Dashboard show?

The Fleet Dashboard shows active drivers, total vehicles, this-month spend, all-time spend, a per-driver breakdown (fill-ups, gallons, spend, last fill date), and a sortable fill-up activity table with driver and month filters. An "Unattributed fill-ups" warning appears if any fill-ups haven't been assigned to a driver.

How do I bulk import vehicles from a CSV?

From the Fleet Dashboard, tap the "Bulk Vehicle Import" card. Download the template CSV to see the expected format, fill in your vehicles, then upload the file and tap "Import Vehicles." Required columns are Name and Tank Size (gal). Optional columns include Year, Make, Model, Trim, VIN, and Odometer. The import supports up to 200 vehicles per file. After import, a results summary shows how many were created and flags any rows that were skipped with a reason.

Can I download an annual tax report?

Yes — Fleet subscribers can download a PDF Annual Fleet Fuel Tax Report directly from the Fleet Dashboard. Tap the Reports card, choose a tax year from the dropdown, and tap "Download PDF." The report includes a monthly cost breakdown, per-vehicle summary with MPG, a complete fill-up log with driver attribution, and a tax disclaimer. It is ready to hand to your accountant or attach to your IRS records.

Can I show my company's logo in GasCap™?

Yes — Fleet subscribers can white-label the dashboard with their company name and logo. Go to Settings → Fleet Branding, enter your company name and logo URL, and your branding will appear in the desktop dashboard header for all fleet users. Your logo sits alongside "Powered by GasCap™ Fleet" attribution.

Can drivers log fill-ups on their own devices?

Currently, fill-ups are logged by the account holder and attributed to a driver. Multi-driver login with individual accounts is on the roadmap for a future Fleet update.

Is there a free trial for Fleet?

Fleet features are currently coming soon — we're rebuilding the Fleet experience. In the meantime, the Pro plan includes unlimited vehicles ($2.99/mo or $19.99 Lifetime), which covers most multi-vehicle households.

⭐ Plans & Billing

What's included in the free plan?

Available as Pro Monthly ($2.99/mo), Pro Annual ($26.99/yr, ~3 months free), or Pro Lifetime Membership ($19.99 one-time).

What are the differences between Pro Monthly, Pro Annual, and Pro Lifetime?

All three tiers include every Pro feature. Pro Monthly ($2.99/mo) is a simple month-to-month subscription with no bonus giveaway entries. Pro Annual ($26.99/yr, ~3 months free) saves you money and automatically adds +10 bonus giveaway entries every draw period. Pro Lifetime Membership ($19.99, one-time payment) gives you Pro access forever with no recurring subscription, a permanent 🏅 Lifetime Member badge, and +20 bonus giveaway entries per draw period. Lifetime members can optionally add Lifetime Perks ($9.99/yr) to upgrade to +30 bonus entries per draw period plus an annual vacation voucher (hotel getaway) every year they renew. If Lifetime Perks lapses, Pro access is never revoked — you simply drop back to +20 bonus entries.

What does Fleet add over Pro?

Fleet features (multi-driver tracking, fleet dashboard, tax reports) are coming soon. Pro now includes unlimited vehicles — ideal for households and owner-operators with multiple cars.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Visit gascap.app/upgrade or tap Settings → "Upgrade to Pro." The upgrade page shows all four options: Free, Pro Monthly ($2.99/mo), Pro Annual ($26.99/yr), and Pro Lifetime Membership ($19.99 one-time). You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout page. On the iPhone app, upgrading uses Apple In-App Purchase — you'll see a native purchase screen and pay through your Apple Account. On the web, checkout is handled securely by Stripe. Either way, Pro unlocks on your account everywhere. Lifetime members can add Lifetime Perks ($9.99/yr) from Settings → Plan.

Can I give GasCap™ Pro as a gift?

Yes! Visit gascap.app/gift to give Pro Lifetime ($19.99, one-time) as a gift — perfect for Father's Day, birthdays, or the holidays. You don't need an account to buy a gift. Choose to email the gift code directly to the recipient, or get the code yourself to hand over or print. You can also add a personal note. The recipient redeems it on their own account — no subscription, Pro forever.

How do I redeem a gift I received?

Open the claim link in your gift email (or go to gascap.app/redeem and enter your gift code). Sign in — or create a free account if you're new (your name and email are pre-filled from the gift) — then tap "Claim My Pro Lifetime." Pro Lifetime activates on your account instantly. If you already have Lifetime, the code stays unused so you can pass it on to someone else.

How do I get a vacation getaway with Pro Lifetime?

There are two ways to earn a vacation getaway. First, anyone who purchases Pro Lifetime Membership ($19.99) receives a complimentary one-time resort getaway as a welcome bonus — right after you upgrade, choose your destination from a curated list (Las Vegas, Denver, Miami, San Antonio, Orlando, or Nashville) at gascap.app/getaway, and your certificate is sent by email within 24 hours. Second, Lifetime Perks subscribers ($9.99/yr add-on) receive a new vacation voucher every year they renew — this is an ongoing annual perk as long as Lifetime Perks is active.

What does the getaway cover, and what do I pay?

This is a hotel stay only — flights are NOT included. Your complimentary certificate covers the hotel room rate (valued up to $350/night) for a multi-night stay. You cover the destination's nightly taxes and fees — which vary by destination and are shown before you choose — plus your own airfare, food, and any resort fees the hotel charges. There is no timeshare presentation. You activate the certificate within 7 days, can travel any time within 18 months, and book at least 30 days ahead (major holidays excluded). Activation fees are non-refundable.

Who can use the getaway, and how is it delivered?

The getaway is issued and fulfilled by our travel partner, Marketing Boost / RedeemVacations — watch for an email from them (check spam too). It accommodates up to 2 adults (at least one age 21+), with up to 2 children under 12 allowed at some hotels. You must reside at least 100 miles from your chosen destination and present a valid government-issued ID and a major credit or debit card at check-in. Full terms come with your certificate at RedeemVacations.com.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Plan → "Manage Billing & Subscription." This opens the Stripe self-serve portal where you can cancel or update your payment method at any time. You can also email support@gascap.app and we'll take care of it for you. Lifetime members have no subscription to cancel. If you subscribed on the iPhone app through the App Store, manage or cancel it in your iPhone Settings → tap your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions → GasCap™ → Cancel — iOS subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple, not through the Stripe portal.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. GasCap™ uses Stripe for all payments — we never store your card details. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.

🎁 Giveaway

What is the Monthly Gas Card Giveaway?

Every month, GasCap™ gives away a $25 Visa prepaid card — use it at the pump or anywhere Visa is accepted — to one lucky winner. The drawing is held on or about the 5th of the following month. No purchase is required to enter.

Who is eligible to enter?

Legal residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older with a verified GasCap™ email address. Employees of Gas Capacity LLC and their immediate family members are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law. If your email is not verified, your entries will accumulate but will not be included in the drawing pool — verify your email to make them count.

How do I earn entries as a Pro member?

Pro subscribers automatically earn entries for each calendar day they use the app. Your daily entry count depends on your Ambassador Program tier: standard users earn 1 entry/day; Supporters (5+ paying referrals) earn 2 entries/day; Ambassadors (15+ paying referrals) earn 3 entries/day; Elite Ambassadors (30+ paying referrals) earn 5 entries/day. Tier status is based on your cumulative paying referral count as of the last day of the previous month. On top of daily entries, streak bonuses apply as a flat addition: a 7-day streak adds +3 bonus entries, 30-day adds +8, 90-day adds +15, 180-day adds +22, and a full 365-day streak adds +30 bonus entries per draw period. Plan-level bonuses are added automatically each draw period: Pro Annual members receive +15 bonus entries; Pro Lifetime members (base) receive +25 bonus entries; Pro Lifetime members with active Lifetime Perks receive +40 bonus entries. Each successful referral also permanently adds +15 bonus entries to your total each draw period.

Can I enter without a paid subscription?

Yes — no purchase necessary. Submit one free entry per month using the form at gascap.app/amoe. Only your name and email are required.

What is the entry toast notification?

Pro and Fleet users see a brief "⚡ Entry earned!" notification each day confirming their giveaway entry for the current month. It appears once per day and auto-dismisses.

Where can I check my entry count?

Two ways: tap the 🎁 gift box icon in the app header for a quick look at your current entry count, or visit gascap.app/giveaway for your full entry count, eligibility status, and the most recent past winner.

Can I win every month?

It depends on your Ambassador tier. Standard users are subject to a consecutive-month restriction — a winner from the preceding calendar month is not eligible the following month, and no person may win more than once per calendar quarter. However, Ambassador Program tier holders (Supporter, Ambassador, and Elite Ambassador) are always eligible and may win in consecutive months with no quarterly limit. If a selected winner is ineligible, an additional drawing is held.

How will I know if I won?

Winners are notified by email within 7 days of the drawing. You must respond within 3 days or the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected.

Where are the full official rules?

The complete official rules are at gascap.app/sweepstakes-rules.

🔗 Ambassador Program & Referrals

How does the Ambassador Program work?

Share your personal referral link with friends, family, coworkers, or followers. Every person who signs up using your link and subscribes to a paid GasCap™ Pro or Fleet plan counts as a paying referral. Only paid conversions count — free trial sign-ups that never pay do not. As your cumulative paying referral count grows, you unlock higher Ambassador tiers with better rewards — including up to 6 free Pro months, free Pro at Ambassador tier (15+) as long as you keep 5 or more active paying referrals, and bonus drawing entries every day.

Where do I find my referral link?

Your referral link is in Settings → Refer & Earn, and also on the Ambassador Program page (gascap.app/ambassador). You can copy the link or share it directly. Your link looks like: gascap.app/signup?ref=YOURCODE.

What counts as a paying referral?

A paying referral is someone who (1) signed up using your unique referral link AND (2) activated a paid GasCap™ Pro or Fleet subscription. Free trial sign-ups that never upgrade do not count — period. Self-referrals are blocked by the system. Only real paying customers qualify, which keeps the program sustainable and fraud-proof.

What are the Ambassador tier thresholds and rewards?

Three tiers, based on cumulative all-time paying referrals: Supporter (5+ referrals) — earn 1 free Pro month per paying referral, up to 6 free months total, plus 2× daily drawing entries; Ambassador (15+ referrals) — earn free GasCap™ Pro while you maintain 5 or more currently active paying referrals, plus 3× daily drawing entries; Elite Ambassador (30+ referrals) — free Pro while you maintain 5+ active paying referrals, 5× daily drawing entries, recognition in the Top Ambassadors list, early feature access, and a personal thank-you from the GasCap™ team.

How many free months can I earn through referrals?

You can earn up to 6 free Pro months through the referral program — 1 free month per paying referral, credited within 24 hours of their first payment. Once you reach 6 banked months, free month credits stop — but your referral count keeps climbing toward Pro for Life at 15 paying referrals. Credits are valid for 12 months and are applied automatically to your next billing cycle (up to 3 at a time).

How do Ambassador tiers affect my monthly drawing entries?

Once you reach a tier, your daily drawing entries are multiplied automatically: Supporter members earn 2 entries per day (up to 62/month); Ambassadors earn 3 entries per day (up to 93/month); Elite Ambassadors earn 5 entries per day (up to 155/month). Streak bonus entries still apply on top. Additionally, all Ambassador tier holders are always eligible to win the monthly drawing — the standard consecutive-month and quarterly restrictions do not apply.

When does my referral count update?

Your referral count updates within 24 hours of your referred friend's first payment. Your tier status is based on cumulative all-time paying referrals and is never revoked. However, the free Pro perk at Ambassador and Elite tiers requires at least 5 currently active paying referrals — if that count drops below 5, your complimentary Pro is paused until it recovers.

What if my referred customers cancel their subscription?

Your Ambassador tier status is locked in permanently based on your cumulative all-time paying referral count — cancellations don't lower your tier. However, the free Pro perk requires at least 5 of your referrals to have active paid subscriptions at any given time. If cancellations bring your active count below 5, your complimentary Pro is paused until it recovers to 5+. Your drawing entry multiplier and tier recognition are not affected.

Can I refer myself?

No — self-referrals are blocked at the system level. No credit will be awarded under any circumstance.

I referred someone but they don't appear in my referral count.

Confirm that your friend (1) signed up using your exact referral link (gascap.app/signup?ref=YOURCODE) and (2) has an active paid subscription. Free trial sign-ups without a paid plan do not count. Counts update within 24 hours of payment. If both conditions are met and 24 hours have passed, email support@gascap.app with your referral code and their email address.

🏆 Streak Rewards

What are Streak Rewards?

Streak Rewards are bonuses you earn by maintaining a consecutive daily streak — open the app every day to keep your streak alive. The reward depends on your plan: Pro Monthly and Annual members earn free Pro month credits at each milestone; Pro Lifetime members earn bonus gas card giveaway entries instead (since they already have Pro forever). Rewards are in the Share tab under "Streak Rewards."

What milestones earn a reward?

Reaching a 30-day streak earns your first reward. 90 days earns another. 180 days earns another. 365 days earns a final reward plus Legend status — 4 milestones total if you reach one year. For Monthly/Annual members each milestone = 1 free Pro month. For Lifetime members each milestone = bonus giveaway entries.

How do I redeem a banked free month? (Monthly/Annual members)

Email support@gascap.app from your account email and mention your banked streak credit. We'll apply it to your next billing cycle.

Does breaking my streak affect rewards I already earned?

No. Once a milestone is hit, the reward is banked permanently (free month credits valid for 12 months; bonus entries are applied to the current draw period). Your streak resets to zero but you keep everything already earned.

When does a new streak day start?

Each day starts at midnight in your own local time zone — Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Hawaii, or anywhere else. GasCap™ uses your device's clock, so there's no unfair cutoff for users outside the East Coast.

👤 Account & Privacy

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in page, tap "Forgot password?" Enter your email and we'll send a reset link valid for 1 hour.

Why do I need to verify my email?

Email verification protects your account, ensures we can notify you if you win the monthly giveaway, and unlocks your bonus drawing entries. Verify within 48 hours of signing up to earn +25 bonus entries — verify any time after to earn +10 bonus entries. Check your inbox and spam folder for the verification email from support@gascap.app. Unverified accounts cannot win the monthly drawing.

What data does GasCap™ collect?

GasCap™ collects the information you provide (email, vehicle info, fill-up logs) and basic usage data to improve the app. We do not sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I update my display name or phone number?

Go to Settings → Profile. You can update your display name (shown in the app instead of your full name) and your phone number. Your phone number is optional and used only for SMS notifications if you choose to opt in.

How do I opt into SMS text message notifications?

Go to Settings → Profile. Enter your phone number, then check the "SMS Notifications" box. By opting in you consent to receive account alerts, gas price notifications, fill-up reminders, and occasional promotional messages from Gas Capacity LLC. Message & data rates may apply. You must be 18 or older to opt in.

How do I opt out of SMS messages?

Reply STOP to any text message from GasCap™ to unsubscribe immediately. You can also go to Settings → Profile and uncheck the "SMS Notifications" box. Either method stops all further SMS from us.

How do I opt out of marketing emails?

Use the unsubscribe link in any GasCap™ email, or email support@gascap.app and we'll remove you from marketing communications. Transactional emails (receipts, password resets) are not affected.

How do I delete my account?

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data instantly from within the app: go to Settings → Account → 'Delete account,' then type DELETE to confirm. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you prefer, you can also email support@gascap.app and we'll delete your account within 30 days.

🔧 Troubleshooting

Gas price lookup isn't working.

Make sure you've allowed location access in your browser settings. If it still fails, the EIA data service may be temporarily unavailable — try again later or enter a price manually.

VIN scan isn't reading my VIN correctly.

Ensure good lighting, hold the camera steady, and make sure the full 17-character VIN is in frame. The VIN is usually on the driver-side dashboard or door jamb sticker. If scanning fails, type your VIN manually.

Receipt scan isn't filling in my details.

Make sure the receipt is flat, well-lit, and fully in frame. Both pay-at-pump and final store receipts are supported. If the scan fails, enter your gallons, price, and total manually.

The app isn't updating after I upgraded my plan.

Sign out and sign back in to refresh your session. Pull down from the top to refresh the app. If the issue persists, clear your browser cache or reinstall the app from the App Store or Google Play.

My streak didn't count today even though I used the app.

Make sure you're signed in — streaks only count for registered users. Each new streak day is counted at midnight in your device's local time zone, so whether you're on the East Coast, Central, Mountain, Pacific, or any other time zone, your streak resets at midnight where you are. If you used the app and the streak didn't increment, sign out and back in to force a session refresh.

My Pro features disappeared after my trial ended.

At the end of the 30-day free trial, your account automatically reverts to the free plan. No charge is ever applied — you simply lose access to Pro-only features (fill-up tracking, MPG charts, AI Advisor, etc.). To restore Pro access, go to Settings → Plan → "Upgrade to Pro" ($2.99/mo or $19.99 Lifetime). A reminder banner appears in the app starting 15 days before your trial expires so you have plenty of notice.

The AI Fuel Advisor isn't responding.

The AI Fuel Advisor requires an internet connection and an active Pro or Fleet plan. If you're connected and subscribed and it's still unresponsive, try refreshing the app. If the issue continues, email support@gascap.app.
